4 interesting things about Drew McIntyre

Day by day, ever since he stepped up to the Raw roster, Drew McIntyre has gotten bigger and bigger, and his presence has become as prominent as ever. Gone are the days of "The Chosen One" gimmick which almost ran him into the ground.

Now, from whichever angle you look, Drew McIntyre is the real deal. Amazing in the ring, he possesses a great move set. What's more amazing is the persona that he has developed. He's no more the cocky little kid who would move around with a sense of entitlement.

Now he's a huge man with a crazily impressive presence in the ring which shouts out "Future Star" whenever he makes an appearance. With these things in mind, I just thought it would be a good idea to get to know the Scottish Psychopath a bit more.

Let's get to know Drew a bit more with a few of the more interesting things about Drew McIntyre

#1 He Started Early

Drew had his sights set very early on what he wanted to do in life, he had a clear goal and he went after it from a young age. Drew started training for a wrestling career at a tender age of just 15 years at the school of Frontier Wrestling Alliance.

His parents were also supportive of him as they would take him on 12-hour road trips to support his matches at a very early stage. Such an early start set him apart as he was able to shine very early and caught Vince McMahon's eye at a very young age.

His early gimmick of "The Chosen One" actually stemmed from Vince McMahon himself.

#2 Early Success

Drew Mcintyre was given the moniker of the "Chosen One" when he first stepped into WWE. The character was the persona of a cocky kid who proclaimed to be the next biggest star after getting the green light from Vince McMahon himself.

In the early weeks of his push, Drew tasted some success as well, as he was one of the Survivors for the Survivor Series elimination match in 2009 alongside the Miz and Sheamus. A few weeks later Drew also defeated John Morrison to win the Intercontinental Title.

Only Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy had won the title at a younger age. It bodes well for Drew though that both of them did go on to become multiple time World Champions in their career.

Based the evidence, it can be seen that Drew did show some signs of greatness ever since he stepped on to the stage.

#3 His Unconventional Route

After Drew was first released by WWE, he went back to the independent scene to improve his craft and work on himself. During that time he transformed himself physically as well, and turned into one imposing character in the ring. Seeing his progress, WWE wanted him back, but Drew wanted to go through the developmental route.

As a former Intercontinental champion and a former Tag Team Champion, Drew could have done what many of the other established wrestlers did and walk straight back into the WWE main roster.

But instead Drew opted to first go to NXT, prove himself there and then ultimately make the jump to the either Raw or SmackDown after first warming up to the viewers. By looking at the results we can say that the gamble has paid off for him.

#4 Origin of the Claymore Kick

The Claymore Kick is one of the more recent changes to McIntyre's arsenal. Earlier he used to have the Future Shock DDT as his finishing move.

This brings us to how the Claymore Kick came into existence and what was the point of inception for this finishing move. Funnily enough, Drew found his new finishing move when he was pretty close to getting released by WWE as part of 3MB (3 Man Band).

During his sting with 3MB Drew was supposed to wear tight leather pants as opposed to the normal trunks that he used to wear. In one of the matches he tried to go for a running kick to the face but due to those tight leather pants he ultimately tripped and fell over while doing it.

Instead of considering it to be a botch, Drew thought it looked a bit cool and so he went ahead and turned it into his finishing move.
