WWE Superstars Cosplay As The Rock In Celebration Of Rock 25

This week marks the 25th anniversary of Survivor Series 1996. Why is that important? Because that's the show on which The Rock made his WWE debut. Competing under the name Rocky Maivia, an ode to his father Rocky Johnson and his grandfather Peter Maivia, Rock competed in a traditional Survivor Series match alongside Jake Roberts, Marc Mero, and Barry Windham who was wrestling as The Stalker at the time.

A Tribute To The Rock

The Rock who debuted in 1996 looks a lot different from the one dominating Hollywood today. In fact, The People's Champ looked very different in that match from the wrestler he would become in the years that followed. Rock wore a colorful blue and green get-up and had a little perm perched on the top of his head.

A handful of WWE Superstars recreated some of The Rock's most iconic looks to celebrate the anniversary of his debut, and Riddle was the one to don his debut colors. The Raw Tag Team Champion even curled his hair for the occasion as you can see in the photo below. Riddle wasn't the only one to recreate a Rock look, though.

Rhea Ripley Is Fanny Pack Rock

Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, and The New Day also got in on the fun. Someone had to recreate Rock's fanny pack look, of course, and that honor fell to Ripley. Priest dressed up as late '90s Rock, complete with a replica Brahma Bull Championship, and New Day called out Rock's love of pancakes for his cheat meals because of course they did.

There have been rumors The Rock is returning to WWE for this year's Survivor Series. It's believed he could be back to begin the build to a match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38. The Great One recently shot down those rumors, claiming there has been no talk of a return match in 2022. He did admit that there could be a match in the future if it makes sense, but didn't specify who it might be against.
