The injury was later deemed severe, and Owens underwent surgery on his neck, which he has been rehabilitating since. However, a recent video of him training with talent on LFG (Legends and Future Greats) is quite promising.
Kevin Owens is his enthusiastic self as he trains young talent on the art of wrestling, and in the clip, he almost takes a bump himself while talking about selling a move.
This could indicate that The Prizefighter is nearing the end of his rehabilitation and could be back in the WWE ring sooner rather than later.

Kevin Owens last wrestled Sami Zayn
Owens wrestled Sami Zayn in an unsanctioned match to cap off their feud before WrestleMania 41 last year at Elimination Chamber.
Owens defeated Zayn on the night, and his WrestleMania program was slated to be against Randy Orton, but a neck injury forced him into a hiatus.
Things have changed drastically since WWE and Sami Zayn is now a one-time WWE Champion. Zayn won the title after defeating both Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a triple threat match at Night of Champions to win the gold in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Zayn's joy would be short-lived, however, as his title reign lasted merely 9 days. A returning CM Punk took an injured Cody Rhodes' place as Zayn's first challenger after the title victory and defeated the Last Real Good Guy to become the new champion last week on RAW
Former Universal Champion Kevin Owens' return to the ring can help WWE's creative team build some new feuds around the WWE Championship picture and even open up old rivalries like the one he had with Sami Zayn, his good friend.
Although a definite timeline for a return to the ring for Owens isn't yet known, WWE fans can be hopeful of seeing one of their favourite stars in the ring again soon after seeing him train future superstars on LFG as seen above.
