In a very rare moment on WWE television, Jon Moxley, fka Dean Ambrose, was shown, marking the first time the AEW superstar had been featured in quite a long time.
As much as WWE might not want to acknowledge Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose, he is too important to the last decade and more of the company's history. Over the last decade, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have become the company's #1 and #2 stars, respectively. While Moxley enjoyed some success in WWE, it wasn't quite the same story creatively, and in early 2019, it was announced that he would be departing the company after his run ended. That marked a little over eight years on the main roster, and Moxley has now surpassed that with his time in AEW. A multi-time World Champion and leader of The Death Riders, he's found exactly where he belongs.
During a promo about The Shield ahead of the Roman Reigns-Seth Rollins main event at SummerSlam 2026, Jon Moxley was featured as Dean Ambrose and was shown on WWE television for the first time in a long time.
WWE airs a video about the Shield that TECHNICALLY has Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose in it but he's obscured in almost every shot he's in 💀 #WWERAW pic.twitter.com/bvwAbVc6lX

What's funny is that the shots implied that Moxley was there in the background, but you could see that the WWE production team really went out of their way to ensure that Moxley was featured as little as possible during the entire promo package. However, given the importance of Moxley/Ambrose to the entire story, it's hard to imagine ignoring him.
Even the story between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins may have taken its own shape over the years, but the fact is that they were a trio, not a duo.
